Pinku Chirashi took a second places for a solo dance on Baltic Movement Contest 2010 in Gdańsk.

“Pinku Chirashi” young, pretty, lonely, neurotic, desperate and available in any guise or form – is she real, real or imaginary?

Life in modern day Japan can be cruel. The young Japanese today, devoted slaves to long working hours and still bound by strong moral codes, don’t have time to build up relationships.

That’s where pin-up-like characters, sprung from manga comics, their services advertised by “pink flyers”, fill the romantic gaps. The flyers can be found everywhere, on car windows, counters, as dead leaves on the pavement. Manga characters can also be bought as prints on bed covers, pillow covers and clothes, or as puppets and (sex) toys.

Does reality still matter or has virtuality taken over and actually become the real thing? Love has become a virtual concept. “Pinku Chirashi” let us enter this strange, fascinating, yet powerful no-man’s land, somewhere between real and virtual life.

Anything goes, but there is a price tag attached to everything.
